About Us
The last 25 years has brought about many different approaches to transformation – what we call
Sustained Change. Derived from "Sapere" (Latin), Sagacity means profound wisdom or insight; hence our logo "wise owl" and the name Wisdom at Work. When we say "Wisdom at Work", we mean that wisdom is at work in all areas of our lives, not just in the work-place environment.
We believe the ultimate achievement is for us to create true balance in our lives without the thinking that to do this, we need to change our lifestyles. This comes from understanding the principle-based approach to "change from within".
Sagacity was founded in 1998 to assist individuals and organizations to not just cope with the speed of change, but to thrive and continue to be successful.

"My work with
clients is insight-based and I provide the framework for
individuals to access their innate mental health so they can
live a healthy and productive life. Just as a sports person
realizes that it is their state of mind that determines the ease
and grace with which they play their game, it is the same for
all human beings. Life either seems easy, flowing down the
river, or a struggle up stream – against the current. This
approach enables my clients to achieve sustainable change even
after the coaching assignment is completed, through
understanding how we create our experience of life from
moment-to-moment." |
GILLY CHATER Founder of Sagacity Limited has worked in the
field of "change from within" since 1985. She is an experienced
facilitator and coach and uses her expertise to provide
workshops and coaching for leaders and their teams. This also
includes training leaders in their field to become facilitators
and coaches of this principle-based understanding of
Human Functioning. Gilly also coaches clients by
phone whether they be managers of different nationalities who
are based in Europe, Asia and Pacific countries or managers in
New Zealand.
It was during her seven years of living and working in Tokyo, Japan that she was introduced to the concept of ‘transformation’. Since 1989 she has researched and studied extensively and through doing this has developed a deep insight of what works and doesn’t work for people to live fulfilling, productive and rewarding lives. Her expertise is in bringing this principle-based understanding and the value of "change from within" to individuals, organisations and communities.
The research and development of programmes since 1989, led Gilly in 1996 to her first awareness of this very different approach to leadership and change. She has studied this approach since October 1997 with a number of people highly qualified in the principle- based understanding.
These include Judith A Sedgeman, Director
of the Initiative for Innate Health at West Virginia University
Medical School (the academic home of this principle-based
understanding), Bob Gunn, Co-Principal of the Accompli Group and
Elsie Spittle, Director of 3PHD Inc.
Gilly has attended courses in the USA and Australia to develop her ability to facilitate this understanding and has successfully worked with leaders and their employees to achieve and sustain high performance without burn out. She is also the only Certified Trainer of Facilitators of this approach in New Zealand.
She lives with her husband Alastair at Snells Beach, just I hour
from Auckland, amidst the beautiful surroundings of the Hauraki
Gulf.
